UPSEE 2014: Results to be declared on or before May 20

he Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam (UPSEE) is conducted by Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) for granting admissions to Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture courses within the state in Government aided institutions, private unaided institutions affiliated to UPTU and other participating universities. The exam for the UG courses was held on April 20 whereas; the exam for the PG courses will take place on April 27. According to the notification on the official website, the result for the same is expected to be declared on or before May 20. The exam had multiple choice questions and no negative marking is applicable during checking of the answer sheets. The exam was held in 25 centres across the state of Uttar Pradesh. Students engineer solar-powered robot

Mechanical engineering students from UH visited to Discovery Green on April 12 to share their innovative projects, including a remotely operated vehicle known as an “underwater robot,” while educating passers-by on how today’s technology plays a role in sustainability. Among those students was senior design team AquaForce, which includes mechanical engineering and technology seniors Santos Ortiz, Christopher Munoz and Vicente Mora. Team AquaForce designed and built a remotely operated underwater vehicle that it will enter in the Regional Marine Advanced Technology Education ROV Competition at the NASA Sonny Carter Training Facility. “We’ve been working on it for two semesters,” Ortiz said. “The first semester, we designed it, we did all our research, and the second semester we actually fabricated it. Minimum CAT percentile for ST candidates at IIM-A stands at 38.34%

In what may have impacted the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad ( IIM-A )'s quality of students in admissions, the premier B-school is learnt to have admitted ST students at minimum percentile of as low as 38.34%. In its recent response to an  RTI  application, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has reportedly stated that the minimum Common Admission Test (CAT) percentile at which Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, both male and female, were admitted fell to 38.34% for the 2013-15 batch. Apparently, out of the 172,000 CAT takers in 2013, roughly 95,000 scored zero due to either negative marking or by not attempting questions. This had led to a severe drop in high percentile scoring candidates, leaving the IIMs, especially IIM-A with lesser options to fill the quota reservation and still maintain their quality. Free IIT JEE coaching for Haryana Board Students

Haryana School Education Department has decided to impart coaching for IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to students studying in government schools who are interested in appearing in the said competitive examination. The coaching would be imparted free of cost in Government Senior Secondary School, Jaicobpura and Chakkarpur, District Gurgaon. A spokesman of the Department said the students who have appeared in matriculation examination in March 2014 would be eligible to appear for the admission test. It would be conducted on May 25 at 10.30 am at centres located in Ambala, Gurgaon, Rohtak and Hisar. He said only 50 students would be selected on merit basis. He said Admission Test will be of three hours duration and would cover Mathematics of Class IX and X syllabus and basic English only. How to study in IIT Delhi without cracking IIT JEE ADVANCED ??

There is good news for the students who wish to study at the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi but can't clear the tough Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) .  The prestigious institute is planning to start nine short-term courses for the students who have cleared Class XII exams with above 75 percent merit .  The admission to the courses will be based on an entrance test - separate from JEE, sources in the admission committee said. The students will also have to clear an interview to get through. Sources said that the courses will be of six months' duration and will be started in the coming academic session (2014-15).  "The entrance for the short-term courses will be easier than JEE exams and the pattern will also be very different. Students who have scored above 75 percent in board exams can sit for the entrance. The admission will be done based on the entrance and an interview.
